The drug Calgluquine® was used as an analgesic agent to treat flu-like conditions. Two pharmaceuticals forms were available: sugar-coated tablets and suppositories. The drugs contained 5 active ingredients: (i) quinine gluconate, (ii) paracetamol (acetaminophen), (iii) caffeine, (iv) Ca ascorbate, and (v) codein chlorhydrate. This latter compound is an opioid analgesic, used to prevent coughing. The drug was mainly used to prevent or to treat mild influenza (flu) infections.
